An encounter for the defense of identity
On March 29, Penáguila hosted the third edition of the Meeting of Writers and Writers of the Alcoyano and the County. This event was not only a space to share literary experiences, but also a platform to address the concerns that the cultural sector faces in the face of the recent budgetary measures of the Generalitat Valenciana.
A manifesto of rejection
The participants signed a collective manifesto expressing their concern about budget cuts that negatively affect various groups, including social, union, and cultural. This document arises as a response to the policy of reduction of funds, which, according to the authors, reduce the vitality of the Valencian language and culture.
Critical points of the manifesto
Among the main criticism is the proposal to cut the budget of the Valencian Academy of the Language (AVL), an institution that has the responsibility of promoting the use of Valencian. In addition, the agreement between the Popular Party and Vox, which could lead to a reduction of up to 50% of the AVL funds, has been shown.
A united voice against cultural aggression
The signatories of the manifesto, including prominent names such as Francesc Gisbert and Natàlia Gisbert, stand against this policy of divestment and claim the importance of promoting the Valencian language. They remember that Valencian is a minority language that needs institutional support to ensure its survival and use.
The future of Valencian culture
As the voices of the literary sector come together to defend their cultural heritage, it is clear that the struggle for the Valencian language and the rights of social groups is more valid than ever. The mobilization of the writers of Alcoyano and the county is an example of how culture can deal with adversity and claim a more promising future.
