Andorra’s energy expenditure
Andorra’s energy expenditure has experienced a decrease of 1.4% in 2023, according to data published by the Department of Statistics. These data allow us to take stock of how energy expenditure has evolved in the country over the past year.
Consumption in megawatts per hour (MWh) was 555,865, a decrease of 1.4% compared to 2022 (563,861). Of these, nearly 20% (111,047.8) were produced in the country, while the rest (444,846.2) were imported.
It should be noted that this data includes all kinds of sources. However, if we only consider data from FEDA customers, the reduction is even more significant. Consumption has gone from 368,031 MWh in 2022 to 359,059.9 last year, a decrease of 2.7%.
Evolution depending on the sector
Energy savings have been led by public lighting, with a reduction close to 27%. Other sectors that have experienced a reduction in electricity consumption are financial services (-7.7%), administrations (-8.4%) and industries (-4.9%). As for the domestic customer, savings have been moderate, with a decrease of 1.2%.
On the other hand, there are sectors that have increased electricity consumption. Construction has increased spending by 73.7%, ski resorts have increased consumption by 3.1% and the hotel and restaurant sector has experienced an increase of 0.7%.
