Candidates for office
The three candidates who aspire to occupy the position at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) continue to advance in the selection process. Now, they are subject to the evaluation of the international body and, especially, to an interview in Paris. During this interview, the necessary preparation for the position must be demonstrated, as well as a minimum level of French and English, the two working languages of the court. Although the interview includes questions in both languages, applicants can choose which is their preferred language and which is their secondary language.
Equal opportunities
The minister’s spokesperson, Guillem Casal, has confirmed that the candidates Mingorance, Moynat and El Boudouhi have demonstrated that they have the necessary knowledge and are free from any influence. The government does not make any recommendations among the submitted candidates, so everyone has an equal opportunity to fill the seat at the ECtHR.
Predilection for the current president
For some time, it has been known in the world of judicature and advocacy that there is a predilection for the current president of the Tribunal de Corts. This has created difficulties in configuring the three candidates who will run for the seat of Pere Pastor, who ends his nine-year term next October.
