A sustainable solution for parking
Alcoi City Council has taken an innovative initiative to improve the energy efficiency of the Francisco Laporta Sports Complex. A contract has been awarded for the installation of photovoltaic solar panels in the outdoor car park and the stands of the athletics track.
This installation will not only provide shade for the parked vehicles, but will also generate energy for the self-consumption of the sports complex. This means that the sports center will be able to use the electrical energy produced by the photovoltaic panels for its daily needs.
Benefits for users and the environment
This initiative has several benefits for both users and the environment. First, the photovoltaic panels will provide shade for the parked vehicles, protecting them from the sun and rain. In addition, the electrical energy generated will be used to power the facilities of the sports complex, reducing the dependence on conventional energy sources.
On the other hand, this installation will contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions and the promotion of the use of renewable energies. With this action, Alcoi City Council demonstrates its commitment to sustainability and the fight against climate change.
Support and funding
This project has the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, Climate Emergency and Ecological Transition within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR). The European Union – NextGenerationEU finances the project with an amount of 124,628.00 euros, which covers 40% of the total cost.
The payback of the photovoltaic installation is calculated in approximately 3.7 years, and the total investment will be recovered in seven years. This shows that this initiative is economically viable and sustainable in the long term.
A step towards a more sustainable city
With this installation of photovoltaic panels, Alcoi continues to move towards its goal of being a carbon neutral city. In addition, this project serves as an example for other municipalities that want to implement sustainable solutions for their infrastructure.
In summary, the installation of photovoltaic panels in the parking lot and stands of the Francisco Laporta Sports Complex is an innovative initiative that provides benefits for both users and the environment. This project contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions, encourages the use of renewable energy and demonstrates Alcoi’s commitment to sustainability.
