An Unpredictable Political Journey

Joan Carles Girauta has had a political career full of unexpected turns. His first appearance on television was on the leading program Els matins, on TV3, where he participated as a talk show host. However, fifteen years later, Girauta returned as head of the Vox list in Catalonia, after having passed through Ciutadans and having failed in the general elections as a deputy for Toledo. Both Toledo and Catalan people rejected him, making it clear that he was not welcome in either region.

The Return to TV3

Despite his controversial career, Girauta was invited to participate in a debate on TV3, moderated by the network’s former correspondent in Brussels, Xavi Coral. During the debate, Girauta had to face two professional troublemakers, Jordi Cañas and Juan Carlos Girauta, who spent much of the debate speaking in Spanish. Despite their participation, the debate had a low audience, with only a 9.8% share and being the 18th most watched program of the day.

A Controversial Debate

During the debate, Girauta had several controversial moments. At one point, he accused Xavi Coral of preparing a debate biased in favor of the independentistas or the PSC. Furthermore, he was unable to read a question that he had written down on a piece of paper, evidencing his lack of preparation. At the end of the debate, Girauta complained in Catalan, sending greetings to the brave young people of S’ha Finn who suffer daily at the university. However, his pronunciation was incorrect and he made it clear that he is not fluent in Catalan.

An uncertain future

Joan Carles Girauta has proven to be an unpredictable politician, changing parties on several occasions and generating controversy in each of them. His return to TV3 has not been well received and is likely to be the last time he will be invited to participate in a network show. Despite his career, Girauta has left a mark on Catalan politics, although not exactly a positive one.
