The Generalitat will invest in a new well and a solar plant to guarantee the supply
The Minister of Environment, Water, Infrastructure and Territory, Salomé Pradas, has announced an investment of 4.5 million euros by the Generalitat to improve the water supply system in the municipalities of Canet lo Roig, La Jana and Traiguera, belonging to the Baix Maestrat region. The project consists of the construction of a new well that will extract water from the subsoil and propel it through a solar plant with 960 modules that will generate clean energy. In addition, a new distribution network will be created that will take advantage of existing infrastructure.
Pradas has held a meeting with the mayors of the three towns at the Canet lo Roig Town Hall to inform them of the details of the project, which is in the bidding phase. “This is a long-awaited work that will solve the supply problems suffered by the residents of these municipalities,” stated the councilor.
A boost to the development of the region
The councilor has highlighted that this investment will not only improve the service and quality of water, but will also contribute to the development of a region that faces the challenge of depopulation. “With this work we respond to a historical demand from the inhabitants of this area and, at the same time, we open opportunities for companies and economic activities to establish themselves in the territory and generate employment and wealth,” said Pradas.
