A winter surprise in Catalonia
This Sunday, many parts of Catalonia woke up to a pleasant surprise: snow has made an appearance in different parts of the territory, even in unusual places. Precipitation in the form of snow began in the Pyrenees during the night, but as the early morning progressed, it spread across Central Catalonia until it reached near the coast.
Snow in emblematic places
The mountains of Montserrat and Prades have been covered in white, while a thicker layer of snow has accumulated in Montseny. Even in Begues, in the Baix Llobregat, and in the Montnegre massif, the snow has left its mark on the terrain. Even Tibidabo has witnessed a few snowflakes before the precipitation left the Catalan territory.

Snow on the Catalan coast
The Catalan coast has also woken up with snow, both in the Baix Llobregat and in the Maresme, and there has even been a shy snowfall in Tibidabo. Even in the mountains of Prades and in the Sierra del Montsant, in the province of Tarragona, white has made an appearance.

Heaviest snowfall in the interior
In Montseny, in Central Catalonia and in the Pyrenees, the snowfall has been more intense. Considerable thicknesses of several centimeters have accumulated and there have been complications on a fortnight of roads due to the strong wind and ice. Two roads have been cut: the C-28 in the port of Bonaigua and the TV-7092 between Vilaplana and Arbolí. The use of chains is required on the N-260 in the port of Bonaigua, on the C-28 between Vielha and Baqueira, on the N-141 in Bossòst, and on the L-501 and L-500 roads in the Vall from Boí.
