The Segarra Castles Route: a trip to medieval times
Today we will take a tour through the lands of Alt Penedès and visit one of the most unique viewpoints we have in Catalonia, the Miravinya viewpoint route. This set of five viewpoints will allow you to enjoy spectacular views of the geography of the Penedès, as well as discover its rich culture and history. From castles and hermitages to natural spaces, there is much to explore.
Miravinya la Cadira: a panoramic experience
We begin our route with a stop at the Miravinya la Cadira viewpoint. This viewpoint stands out for its giant chair, from which you can enjoy a 360° panoramic view of the vineyards that surround the area. Located near Torrelavit, this viewpoint is a perfect place to relax and admire the beauty of the landscape.
Miravinya la Bardera: history and nature
We continue our journey towards the viewpoint of Miravinya la Bardera. At this stop, you can enjoy fields full of vineyards and discover one of the oldest farmhouses in the area, built in the 14th century. In addition, you have the opportunity to visit the old mills on the Rio de Billes and explore the historic center of Torre-ramona and the hermitage of Sant Benet d’Espiells.
Miravinya El Circell, Sant Pau and the Balcó del Penedès: a panoramic view
Following the route, we will reach the outskirts of Avinyonet del Penedès, where we will find the El Circell viewpoint. From this point, you can enjoy a 360° view of the landscape, with fields of grapes, olive trees and peach trees of the Ordal. In addition, take the opportunity to visit the monastery of Sant Sebastià dels Gorgs and discover its rich history.
Near Vilafranca del Penedès, you will find the viewpoint of Sant Pau. From this location, you can observe a panoramic view of the capital of the region and of the wine. Take the opportunity to visit the castle and convent of Penyafort, as well as the historic center of Castellet i la Gornal, which is located near Vilafranca del Penedès.
Miravinya Balcó del Penedès: a unique perspective
Our last stop will be at the Miravinya Balcó del Penedès viewpoint, near the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Foix and Parc dels Talls. From this balcony in the middle of nature, you can enjoy a unique perspective of the region, with the Mediterranean Sea in the background. In addition, if you are a nature lover, don’t miss the opportunity to visit the ornithological area of Parc dels Talls, where you can observe more than 36 species of birds.
