A milestone in the history of TV3
This year, TV3 celebrates its 40th anniversary and, to commemorate this special occasion, emblematic moments in its history are being remembered. Last Tuesday exactly four decades passed since the first broadcast of the midday news program. At that time, Mònica Huguet and Salvador Alsius were the first presenters. From then until now, TV3’s desire to report on everything that happens here and in the world has not changed. However, technology and staging have evolved considerably, as current presenters have pointed out.
Memories of that first newscast
Upon connecting with the set, Mònica and Salvador appeared a few years older. Mònica reflected on that first midday newscast, remembering that she was young and still in college. For her, it was something unfathomable and beyond her dreams. Although she recognized that she was in a hazy state, she was not as nervous as she would have been if she were older. For his part, Salvador remembered that in those first moments he felt that his heartbeat should be audible throughout Catalonia. She also highlighted the technological advances and innovation of that time.
A possible return
When asked if they would present the news again, Mònica expressed her willingness to do so before retiring, while Salvador mentioned that he would prefer a less stressful job, such as being a meteorologist. Both presenters stressed that they maintain a good relationship and see each other from time to time.
Emotions and thanks
In the video they recorded after the broadcast, they were seen excited. Mònica expressed her gratitude for the recognition and highlighted that they are now both grandparents. The presenters said goodbye, thanking them for their attention and wishing the viewers a good morning.
