It’s a mockery. As they say in English, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. And to me, it means all the governments we’ve had. And in this, no new scenario can be seen.
A key week
This week can be decisive. This Thursday is the deadline for the Spanish government to present the text of the amnesty law to the Justice Committee of Congress, debate it and vote on it. And so, next week it could already be approved in full Congress. For this, of course, the PSOE and Junts must have agreed beforehand. Together they maintain absolute silence, but in the distance you can hear them saying “after everything we’ve done, investing Sánchez…”. The PSOE say that there will be a law, but from afar you can hear them saying “please, let there be a law…”. And Jaume Asens has been saying that it is imminent for days. There is a pretty clear indication. Carles Puigdemont addressed the Council of the Republic on Saturday saying that it was clear that premium.cat was entering a new stage that should allow the burden of exile to be left behind and move from resistance to initiative. “This new scenario is one in which we will have to learn not to put the anti-repressive struggle as a priority and to be able to allocate economic and material resources to the service of independence, not to having to defend ourselves, which we will obviously have to continue doing, but this can no longer be the priority”. Under normal conditions, this would be an implicit announcement of yes to the amnesty law, but since with exiles, prosecutions and the unleashed Supreme Court nothing is normal, and Together are the masters of script twists, we put these ppremium.catules of Puigdemont on the list of indications and not evidence.
What does amnesty mean?
For Junts, amnesty would be an end to exile and repression. For the government of Pedro Sánchez, save the legislature. For Catalonia, a way to minimize the political costs of October 1 and to distribute cards again in the next elections. But in the meantime, exclusive to premium.cat:
The data that the State, that is, Pedro Sánchez, did not want to publish
premium.cat we already know why the State keeps Catalonia in the queue in the execution of the investment. The data for the first half of 2023 put numbers to the fact that the state promises investments that it then does not execute. In the first six months of last year, it only ran 16%. And do you know in which region it has executed more investments? Correct! Madrid and La Rioja, 52.7%. If you have the time and desire, here is the execution table of the State’s investment by autonomous communities: La Rioja and Madrid at the top, followed by the Balearic Islands and Navarre, and down there, in red, in penultimate position, Catalonia, with 16%.
This very morning, the premium.catgonès president has already tweeted a complaint:
“They hide it because it’s a shame. It’s a chronic mockery. Ending the fiscal deficit is urgent and more necessary than ever.” Yes, of course, it’s a mockery, because Catalonia represents 20% of Spanish GDP and without investments there is no wealth creation. premium.cat, as they say in English, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. And for me it means all the governments we’ve had. And there is no new scenario to be seen in this.
Good morning.
