The crisis of the Barcelona Football Club
The tie against Granada in Montjuïc has aggravated in a very visible way the crisis suffered by Futbol Club Barcelona. One of the clearest symptoms has been the reaction of the Barcelona president, Joan Laporta. As they explained on Sunday from Catalunya Ràdio, the top leader of the club entered the box office area of the Montjuïc stadium in a rage after the result conceded at home. Gestures, shouts and even throwing several trays of cakes that are distributed in this area of the market, as explained by the journalists of the Catalan public radio.

From Mundo Deportivo they also assure that Laporta’s indignation did not come only because of the result against Granada, but because of several comments and insults received in the box office area after the game. The president of Barça went back down to the locker room to talk to Xavi Hernández, as the coach admitted in a press conference minutes later. For now, the club is in crisis after conceding eight goals against mediocre teams in La Liga and facing the prospect of a difficult few months to manage.
Changes in the direction of the club
Xavi Hernández will leave on June 30, as he already announced, and the club is working to find a new coach. In this sense, the sports director, Deco, plays an important role. But statements published a few minutes after the end of the game against Granada (and according to the club and himself, taken out of context), fanned even more the flames of a Montjuïc who was the object of a new patacada.
Controversy with Deco
The Portuguese magazine Nascer do sol published a conversation with Deco in which he would have said that “a profound change was needed” and “to break with the past once and for all and move forward in a new paradigm”. It was all a problem of bad transcription by the interviewer and a bad time – after the tie – to publish it. Deco and the club have made it very clear that these words “were not true” and the magazine itself, in the interview published on the web, did not show these statements.
The future of the club
The club faces a complicated week and with a calendar in sight that promises many changes if the team is not able to correct the course. Xavi, who asked the players to free themselves after announcing that he would be leaving at the end of the season, will have to try to change pieces so that Barca do not find themselves on a path that only leads to another European kick or a difficult period for to the fans
