The vice councilor for Strategy and Communication, Sergi Sabrià

A critical view of the PSC

The vice councilor for Strategy and Communication, Sergi Sabrià, expresses his opinion on the leader of the PSC, Salvador Illa, and his position in relation to unique funding for Catalonia. Sabrià believes that if the socialists do not support this proposal, Illa will be ‘disabled to govern’. In an interview with the ACN, the deputy councilor criticizes that the PSC is not with the Government to demand an end to a fiscal deficit affecting the country. Sabrià finds it ‘surprising’ that Illa is ‘absolutely on the other side’ and regrets that the socialists always ‘choose the PSOE’ instead of Catalonia.

The importance of unique financing

Sabrià highlights the importance of unique financing for Catalonia to put an end to a fiscal deficit that has been ‘bleeding’ the country for decades. He believes that if someone does not want to provide solutions to the people of his country, this disqualifies him from governing. The deputy councilor defends that Catalonia must continue to be ‘in solidarity’ and assume a quota with the State until independence is achieved. In this sense, he criticizes the position of the PSC, which is ‘absolutely on the other side’ and always chooses the PSOE instead of Catalonia.

The unique financing proposal

Sabrià highlights the unique financing proposal that ends Catalonia’s fiscal deficit and considers that it should have the support of the PSC. He regrets that Illa explains ‘repeatedly’ that he is not in favor and deduces that the socialist leader defends the continuation of the 22,000 million euros fiscal deficit. In this sense, Sabrià maintains that when someone does not want to provide solutions to the people of his country, this disqualifies him from governing.

The difficulties of negotiation with Junts

Sabrià also notes the executive’s difficulties in negotiating the 2024 budgets with Junts. He claims that it is not that it is difficult to agree to the measures, but to talk about them. This demonstrates the tensions and differences of opinion between the two parties.

The Generalitat’s unique funding proposal

The president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, commissioned the Minister of Economy, Natàlia Mas, with a unique financing proposal to end the fiscal deficit. The report should be ready this February, according to Aragonès. Sabrià did not want to reveal the content of the proposal, but he assures that it will not surprise and will be a viable proposal that will depend on political will.
