The Generalitat plans to bid for the construction of new homes in Mataró

The Generalitat de Catalunya plans to bid for the construction of 60 new flats for social rent in Mataró, Barcelona, this summer. This initiative is part of the Government’s plan to incorporate 10,000 homes until 2026, with the aim of improving access to housing for people with fewer financial resources.

A project for social rent

The new flats will be for social rent and will have terraces. They will be located in four buildings with four floors in the Ronda Barceló area. There will be two- and three-bedroom homes on the upper floors, commercial premises on the lower floors, as well as parking and storage rooms in the basements.

A sustainable and inclusive project

The project, developed by the architects José Francisco Bergua and Javier Gavín, aims to maximize the use of the permitted building capacity and guarantee the maximum number of hours of sunlight in the homes. In addition, a reservation of 25% of the flats has been established for people under 35 years of age and at least four flats for people with reduced mobility.

Improve access to housing in Mataró

This new housing construction project in Mataró aims to improve access to housing for people with less financial resources. Works are expected to start in 2025 and have a total cost of €7.58 million, with part of the funding coming from Next Generation funds.

With this initiative, the Generalitat de Catalunya seeks to respond to the demand for housing in the city of Mataró and contribute to the construction of a more inclusive and sustainable society.
