An internal investigation does not find any contracts with the companies involved in the corruption plot affecting the PSOE
The Government of the Generalitat has carried out a comprehensive review of all the contracts for the supply of masks that it has carried out since the beginning of the pandemic and has ensured that there is no link with the companies of the Koldo case, a network of alleged fraud and illicit enrichment that has exploded in the Spanish State and that has splashed high socialist positions. This has been reported by the Catalan News Agency (ACN), which cites Government sources.
According to these sources, the Government commissioned this review to clarify any doubts about its relationship with the companies investigated by the justice system. The search began at the Department of Health and the Catalan Institute of Health (ICS), which are mainly responsible for the purchase of health equipment, but it was extended to the other ministries in case there was another contract. The result was negative: no department had purchased masks from the companies in the Koldo case.
What is the Koldo case and how does it affect the PSOE
The Koldo case is a corruption plot that was uncovered a few weeks ago and that involves companies that sold masks at inflated prices to different public administrations during the health crisis. One of the companies, Suministros Médicos Sanitarios SL, is run by Koldo García, a confidant of José Luis Ábalos, ex-Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda and ex-Secretary of Organization of the PSOE. Ábalos resigned from his positions in the party, but not from his seat in Congress, after the judge placed him as an “intermediary” between the companies and the administrations. The Koldo case has caused a political earthquake in Spain and has called into question the credibility and transparency of the PSOE.
