Vilafranca acquires the building of the old barracks of the Civil Guard
The mayor of Vilafranca, Francisco Romero, has signed an agreement to acquire the building of the old barracks of the Civil Guard. This building, located in the Llevant estate in the capital of Alt Penedès, has an area of 2,200 square meters and is intended for public facilities. The price of the building is 320,000 euros, which will be financed with a grant from the Ministry of the Interior (https://www.softcatala.org/resum-de-textos-en-catala/).
The new local police barracks
During the election campaign, Mayor Romero proposed using this space as a new barracks for the local police. The recovery of a space claimed by the people of Vilafranca
The recovery of the old barracks of the Civil Guard is an old claim of the people of Vilafranca. After the deployment of the Mossos d’Esquadra and the withdrawal of the Civil Guard, the space was abandoned and the various municipal groups demanded its transfer to the State. Finally, thanks to a motion presented by ERC to the Senate, the building has been acquired by Vilafranca City Council.
