The importance of ‘Survivors’ in Omar Sánchez’s career
While Telecinco is dedicated to promoting the successful program ‘Survivientes 2024’, one of the most prominent contestants of the 2021 edition, Omar Sánchez, has revealed details about how much money he earned during his participation in the reality show and how much he had before entering.
The economic impact of ‘Survivors’
In an interview on the podcast Ice Cream Dark, Omar Sánchez shared approximate figures about the income he received during his participation in ‘Survivors’. According to him, the cachet of each contestant depends on their level of fame and the interest that they can generate. At that time, Omar was known as the boyfriend of the niece of Isabel Pantoja, a renowned Sálvame talk show host. Therefore, the amount they offered him was above average. According to his statements, he earned between €7,000 and €12,000 a week during the three months he was on the program.
Omar also mentioned that his cache was neither the highest nor the lowest of the edition. The contestant who earned the least received €2,000 a week, while the one who earned the most received €15,000 a week. During his stay on the island, Omar lived with other contestants such as Antonio Canales, Marta López, Alexia Rivas, Agustín Bravo, Valeria Marini, Carlos Alba, Palito Dominguín, Lara Sajen, Alejandro Albalá, Tom Brusse, ‘Lola’ Mencía, Melyssa Pinto , Gianmarco Onestini and the final winner, Olga Moreno.
The personal and economic impact of ‘Survivors’
Although the numbers may seem very high, Omar pointed out that participants do not receive 100% of the money. More than 40% goes to taxes, and each contestant negotiates a percentage with her representative for her participation in the program. Despite this, Omar considered that the ‘Survivors’ experience was worth it from a financial point of view. According to him, if she had not participated in the program, she would never have won that amount of money. Before entering ‘Survivors’, Omar had €1,000 in his bank account, as he had invested in his business by buying two new vans for his shop and surf school.
The continuing impact of ‘Survivors’ on Omar’s life
Omar mentioned that, since his participation in ‘Survivors’, the financial offers of television programs have decreased considerably. Although television continues to offer him large amounts of money to talk about Anabel Pantoja, he has rejected those offers because he does not want his relationship with the media to be based solely on that. Despite this, Omar acknowledged that he has received offers ranging between €10,000 and €30,000 for her participation in television programs. Currently, he has been away from television for a year.
