The effects of the Rodalies workers’ strike
The strike that Rodalies employees are carrying out this Friday, despite causing delays and incidents, has not altered the routine of service users, mainly because, as they themselves point out, the delays are so frequent that they have not even been noticed the exceptionality of the service. “On strike days I don’t notice much difference. The service is so poor that if it was good we would notice it,” said one of the passengers on the R1 line to ACN. Other travelers have said they have been able to travel more comfortably than on other occasions because “people have looked for other options” during the shutdown.
Minimum services and user complaints
Sources from Renfe have detailed that the follow-up to the strike is 2.68%. The stoppage calls for the elimination of entry categories at Renfe and the implementation of the 35-hour day at Adif. The minimum services are 66% during peak hours (06.00 to 09.30 and 17.00 to 20.30 hours) and 33% during the rest of the day in the suburbs. Despite this, many other users have expressed their complaints about minimal services and waiting times. “I will return an hour and a half later because the train I usually take is not available,” explained another passenger, who takes the line between Girona and Barcelona.
