The opposition of the City Council
The governing team of the Bunyola Town Council (Partit Popular and Som AVI – El Pi) has spoken out against the proposal to install a center for out-of-school youth in the town.
The City Council asks the Government to reconsider its decision and discard the idea of establishing this center in Ca ses Monges.
Ca Ses Monges, a contested space
Ca Ses Monges, which had been leased to the Ministry of Social Affairs during the previous mandate, is a space that the City Council wants to use for municipal purposes.
The government team points out that the decision to locate this center in the village has not been informed or agreed upon with the citizens of Bunyola.
The position of the bailiff and the first lieutenant bailiff
The mayor, Juan Antonio Riera, explains that they have already expressed to councilor Catalina Cirer their rejection of the creation of this center, since they consider that it will not be beneficial for the town of Bunyola.
In addition, Riera points out that the proposed location is not suitable to accommodate this type of space.
The first deputy mayor of the City Council, Miquel Ballester (Som AVI – El Pi), says that they will look after the well-being of the residents and that at this moment a center like this is not appropriate.
Clarification about users and location
Both Riera and Ballester say they have nothing against young people who could go to the center. However, they emphasize that the proposed location is key and is in a very central area of the town.
