Coercion of workers
The works committee of the Hospital de la Santa Creu de Jesús recently issued a statement in which it expresses its concern about the treatment received by the workers from the management of the hospital. According to the statement, workers have been coerced not to ask for leave during the Holy Week, Christmas and other holidays, as well as the two days of public holidays. These threats include the possibility of laying off workers, which has generated great anxiety among staff.
Reaction of Together for Tortosa
During the ordinary plenary session in April, the Junts per Tortosa political group asked the top manager and president of Gesat’s board of directors, Mr. Jordan, to explain this statement. The spokesperson for Together for Tortosa, Meritxell Roigé, described these threats as very serious and asked Mr. Jordan what measures he plans to take in this regard. Roigé regretted that the mayor was not aware of this statement and criticized the management of the hospital.
Extraordinary plenary session
In response to this situation, Junts per Tortosa has forced the convening of an extraordinary plenary session to be held on Friday, April 19. During this plenary, the situation of the Hospital de la Santa Creu de Jesús will be debated, with special attention to the working conditions of the professionals. Financial management and the past, present and future of the hospital will also be discussed in depth.
