The positioning of Salvador Illa and the defense of the language
The president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, has shown his concern for the position of the PSC candidate for the presidency, Salvador Illa, in relation to the Ciutadans proposal on trilingualism at school. Aragonès has expressed his concern about the PSC’s change of position regarding the language, stating that a president who always defends the language and never abandons it is necessary. In addition, he highlighted the importance of updating language immersion and strengthening it, without abandoning the model that has been successful for many years.
Criticism of Puigdemont and unity in independence
Aragonès has also spent time criticizing the president-in-exile, Carles Puigdemont, for his request for unity in independence. He stated that unity must be demonstrated with deeds and practice, not just with words, referring to Junts per Catalunya’s decision to leave the executive in the middle of the legislature. In addition, he has contrasted this attitude with that of ERC, highlighting its consistency and defense of the negotiation with the State.
Priorities in case of winning the elections
If he wins the elections, Aragonès has emphasized that he will prioritize the nuclear aspects to resolve the conflict with the State, including the agreed referendum, singular funding and the reinforcement of the welfare state and Catalan. He has expressed his willingness to talk to everyone to add and discuss the proposals.
