Catalan pastry chefs hope to sell a large number of Easter bunnies

by PREMIUM.CAT

A varied offer for all tastes

The Gremi de Pastisseurs de Barcelona hopes to sell around 800,000 handmade Easter bunnies throughout Catalonia. This offer includes a wide variety of sweets, from classics like chocolate eggs to designer ones. Prices will remain similar to last year.

Popular characters and outstanding initiatives

This year, there will be dolls with characters such as Goku from Dragon Ball, which awaken the nostalgia of godfathers after the recent death of their creator. Female characters such as Mia will also be highlighted, an initiative of the guild and the University of Barcelona to promote science. In addition, you will be able to find a doll dedicated to Barça player Aitana Bonmatí and another dedicated to Barbie.

Stable prices despite the rising price of cocoa

The Pastry Chefs Guild does not expect a significant increase in the prices of beans this year. Despite the increase in the price of cocoa on international markets, this fact has not significantly affected the chocolate used for its preparation.

An artistic and traditional object

The president of the guild, Antoni Bellart, emphasizes that the monkey is an artistic object that shows the creativity of pastry chefs. Each artisan mona is a small work of art, made with quality chocolate and with geometric and polygonal shapes. In addition, the vice-president of the guild, Miquel Zaguirre, adds that the mona has a traditional aspect, as it brings together family and friends of different ages at the table.

A unique collection of farm and forest animals

This year, Lluc Crusellas from Osona, considered the best pastry chef in the world, presents a collection of seven farm and forest animals. The duck stands out in particular, which visually conveys everything that the Eukarya brand, its chocolate brand, represents. The geometric and polygonal shapes of the duck make it recognizable as a Crusellas creation.

Advance sales and family tradition

Easter bunny sales are expected to be strongest over the weekend and on Easter Monday. However, sales have already begun to take place over the past few days. The pastry chefs emphasize that the mona is a product that brings together family and friends of different ages at the table, and that it is a tradition that remains alive.
