IAC-Catac and UGT celebrate the relay

The Department of Justice has announced this Wednesday, March 27, that the management of Mas d’Enric prison will be replaced. The IAC-Catac and UGT unions were surprised by the change, although they had called for the resignation and dismissal of Paco Romero, who had been in charge of the penitentiary for almost twenty years.

Request more changes

The unions consider that the change of management is not enough and are also calling for the resignations of the leadership of Justice, especially of the councilor Gemma Ubasart and the secretary of Penal Measures, Armand Calderó.

Shared responsibility

Both IAC-Catac and UGT affirm that Paco Romero is not the only one responsible for the unsafe situation reported by the workers and officials. They also remember the inappropriate treatment that Romero had with the family of the murdered cook, when he did not receive them at the entrance of the prison.

Union reactions

The IAC-Catac and UGT unions positively value the change in management, although they consider it to be insufficient. They demand more changes and the resignation of those in charge of Justice.
