Crafts and traditional knowledge workshops in the Sala Barcelona of the Terra Museum

Recovering basic notions

The Sala Barcelona of the Terra Museum, located in the new headquarters of the Carulla Foundation, will host, during the months of April and May, a series of workshops for adults focused on the Back to basics principle. These workshops aim to offer basic notions to recover essential knowledge that has been part of the popular wisdom and everyday life of our ancestors. This initiative seeks to rescue and value artisanal production processes, as opposed to the current disconnection with the land.

Diversity of workshops

The workshops, given by professionals and master craftsmen, include a variety of topics. The first of these workshops is basketry, by Anna Sínia, with two scheduled editions. Two cheese-making workshops will follow, one fresh and one matured, given by Marta Roger. These proposals, already successfully welcomed at Espluga de Francolí, are now arriving in the Poblenou neighborhood of Barcelona to open a window to the rural world and promote reflection on sustainability in cities.

Details of the workshops

The basketry workshop will take place on Saturday 6 April or Saturday 25 May 2024, with a duration of 4 hours and a cost of 50 euros. Participants will have the opportunity to learn techniques used by our ancestors in this trade. As for the cheese-making workshops, the fresh cheese workshop will take place next April 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a cost of 40 euros, while the matured cheese workshop will take place on the 20 of April (first part) and 4 May 2024 (second part), with a cost of 70 euros.
