The town council of Valls and the Decentralized Municipal Entity of Picamoixons join forces to improve care for citizens
Valls City Council and the Decentralized Municipal Entity of Picamoixons have reached an agreement to improve care for citizens. From next April 8, a decentralized attention point of the municipal social services will be installed in the EMD of Picamoixons. This new service, which will operate fortnightly, will have a Social Work professional and will be open from 8.30am to 2.30pm every fortnight.
A more immediate and close response
This decentralized and local care point aims to provide a more immediate response to the needs of the population of Picamoixons. This will prevent people from having to travel and will facilitate the detection of needs from their own environment. After the talks between the Council and the Social Care of Picamoixons, it was detected the need to do a closer, more direct and wider work of social and community intervention in the EMD.
Community action to improve coexistence and social cohesion
Community action is key to improving people’s coexistence and social cohesion. In this sense, it is planned that activities will be organized for the elderly and a mediation service will be launched periodically in Picamoixons. In addition, in this new point of care there will also be a technician specialized in community action who will complement this service with specific actions to improve people’s quality of life.
Extension of the service to other localities
Valls City Council plans to extend this new decentralized service to other towns such as Fontscaldes, Masmolets and the Valls neighborhoods during 2024.
