Minute by minute of the elections in Catalonia
Today, Sunday 14 February, the elections to the Parliament of Catalonia are held. This article offers live monitoring of the election day, with special attention to the results in Manlleu.
21:26h – Scrutiny live in Manlleu
At 9:26 p.m., the live vote is taking place in Manlleu. So far, 50.92% of the votes have been counted. The preliminary results show that Junts x Cat leads with 35.70% of the votes, followed by ERC with 22.34%, and the PSC with 15.86%. Other parties such as the CUP, VOX, Ciutadans, PDeCAT and ECP have also obtained votes.
20:42h – Preliminary results
According to a TV3 poll, ERC would win the elections with 36-38 seats, followed by the PSC with 34-36 seats and JxCat with 30-33 seats.
8pm – End of election day
At 8pm, the election day in Catalonia and Manlleu has ended. Counting of votes now begins, although final results are not expected to be known today.
7pm – Time to vote for those infected or in quarantine
From 19:00 to 20:00 is the time recommended by the Government so that people infected by Covid-19 or in quarantine can go to vote. Protective measures are mandatory for members of the electoral mesas.
18:39h – Participation in Manlleu
At 6:39 p.m., a turnout of 45.72% was recorded in Manlleu, a figure lower than that of the last election in 2017.
14:20h – Decrease in participation
The Government attributes the decline in participation to the pandemic, the organization in time slots and the increase in voting by mail.
1:20pm – Participation in Manlleu
At 1:20 p.m., turnout in Manlleu was 31.71%, slightly lower than in the 2017 elections.
10:35am – Opening of the electoral months
The Minister for External Action, Institutional Relations and Transparency, Bernat Solé, has highlighted the normality of the opening of the electoral months, with the same incidents and number of constituted months as in the 2017 elections.
9:30am – Previous results in Manlleu
In the 2017 elections, Junts x Cat obtained the majority of votes in Manlleu, followed by ERC and Ciutadans.
9am – Opening of the polling stations
Manlleu’s polling stations opened at 9am to allow citizens to exercise their right to vote. Security measures have been implemented to ensure a safe election process.
8:55am – Election day begins
Today, despite the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Generalitat de Catalunya elections are being held. The polling stations opened at 9am and will remain open for 12 hours to allow all citizens to exercise their right to vote. The candidates for the presidency of the Generalitat are Pere Aragonès (ERC), Laura Borràs (Junts x Cat), Salvador Illa (PSC), Jèssica Albiach (En Comú Podem), Àngels Chacón (PdeCat), Dolors Sabater (CUP), Alejandro Fernández (PP), Carlos Carrizosa (Citizens) and Ignacio Garriga (VOX).
