Respect for agreements and negotiations

Raquel Sans, spokesperson for ERC, has stated that, regardless of the course of the negotiations for the investiture of the socialist Salvador Illa, the Republicans will maintain their commitments to the government of Pedro Sánchez if the agreement is met. In an interview with EFE, Ella Sans emphasized the importance of complying with previously established agreements, highlighting the reliability of ERC in this regard.

Political situation in Catalonia

The political situation in Catalonia appears uncertain, with the independence movement not gaining support and the PSC seeking support from Esquerra for Illa’s investiture. Esquerra’s twenty seats in the Parliament are key in this scenario. Despite this, Sans has clearly separated the negotiations, emphasizing that the agreement with the PSOE is different from the possible investiture agreement for Illa, which would require the approval of the ERC militancy in an internal consultation.

Role of ERC in Madrid

In Madrid, the seven ERC seats in the Congress of Deputies are decisive for the viability of the PSOE and Sumar coalition Executive. Despite this, Sans has emphasized the independence of the spheres, reiterating ERC’s commitment to the investiture agreement in the State, as long as the PSOE complies with what was agreed.

Reflection on current politics

Sans has highlighted the importance of doing politics for the benefit of citizens, recognizing the population’s fatigue and the need for stability. In this sense, she has underlined the reliability of ERC and its commitment to the agreements, emphasizing the importance of respecting the word given in the current political context.

Investiture pact in Madrid

The investiture pact between socialists and republicans in Madrid includes the approval of an amnesty law for the process, as well as the creation of a new PSOE-ERC negotiation table to address issues such as financing and resolution of the Catalan political conflict. ERC defends a legal and agreed self-determination referendum, a proposal that the socialists reject.
