Reus City Council opens the application period for subsidies for the payment of rent
Reus City Council has launched a subsidy program for the payment of rent under a competitive competition regime. This program is intended for elderly and young people living in Reus and aims to facilitate access to housing and improve the population’s living conditions.
Requirements to apply for grants
The recipients of these subsidies are people aged 65 or over and people aged 35 or under who are holders of a rental contract or transfer of use of a home or a room that constitutes the his usual and permanent address. To qualify for these grants, you must meet the following requirements:
1. Have legal residence in Reus.
2. Be of the specified age in each case: 65 years or older for seniors and 35 years or younger for young people.
3. Have a regular source of income that does not exceed 24,301.57 euros per year.
4. Be the owner of a rental contract for a house or a room that is the usual and permanent address. You must be registered in Reus.
5. Do not pay a monthly rent of more than 600 euros for the house or 300 euros in the case of a room.
Application and deadlines
The application period for people aged 65 and over is now open and will run until March 27. For people aged 35 and under, the period will open on March 11 and will be available until April 12. Applications can be submitted both electronically, with mobile idCat digital identification, and in person at the Housing Office by prior appointment.
Amount of subsidies
The amount of the subsidies varies depending on the effort to pay the rent and the income of each person. It is calculated as follows:
– If the effort to pay the rent is equal to or less than 30% of the income, the aid will be 20% of the amount of the annual rent.
– If the effort to pay the rent is greater than 30% and less than 40% of the income, the aid will be 30% of the amount of the annual rent.
– If the effort to pay the rent is equal to or greater than 40% of the income, the aid will be 40% of the amount of the annual rent.
It should be noted that there is a maximum limit of 200 euros per month for seniors and 250 euros per month for young people, and a minimum of 20 euros per home.
Special conditions
In the case of homes for large families, single-parent families and cohabitation units with a member with a legally recognized disability and a favorable mobility scale, the maximum amount of aid will be 900 euros throughout the territory of Catalonia.
