Multilingual debate petition
The Junts per Catalunya party has sent a request to Spanish Radio and Television (RTVE) so that the debate on June 6, within the framework of the European elections, be held in Catalan, Basque and Galician. This petition highlights the importance of the linguistic and cultural diversity of the State, seeking to guarantee that Catalan has an equal status with Spanish on state public television.
The letter, sent by the campaign director of the candidacy led by Toni Comín, Aleix Sarri, to the director of News Content at RTVE, Josep Vilar Grebol, emphasizes that Comín is in exile, and it will be Sarri who will participate in the debate as number 3 of the candidacy.
Inclusion of Basque and Galician
In addition to the request for the use of Catalan, Junts per Catalunya has also requested that Basque and Galician, as official languages of the State, be present in the debate. This initiative seeks to promote multilingual participation and the representation of linguistic diversity in an event of political importance.
Position on the amnesty and electoral objectives
Toni Comín, Junts per Catalunya candidate for the European elections, has expressed his opinion on the Popular Party’s demonstration against the amnesty, describing it as ‘surreal’. Comín has also defended the amnesty for the Procés that will be approved by Congress, considering it legitimate and necessary.
Regarding his electoral objectives, Comín has expressed his intention to obtain three MEPs in the European elections, highlighting that the polls give them at least two deputies. In addition, he has emphasized the importance of the fight against climate change and the reform of the European Union as priorities of his candidacy.
Position on international recognitions
Junts per Catalunya has celebrated the Spanish State’s recognition of the Palestinian State, although it has criticized the Government’s position for not recognizing Kosovo as a state or the self-determination of Western Sahara. Additionally, they have expressed their support for Ukraine in the face of the Russian invasion, defending the country’s right to defend itself and condemning Russia’s actions as violations of international law and war crimes.
