The Minister of Economy charges against the commons

The Minister of Economy, Natàlia Mas Guix, has opened the parliamentary debate this Wednesday, which will vote on the amendments to the entirety of the Generalitat’s 2024 budget, charging against the commons for their ‘no’ to the accounts and has accused them of “inconsistency and electoralism” because “nothing is voted on a casino today”.

Mas Guix has criticized the commons who have decided to “ignore” that the accounts do not include any items for the Hard Rock macro project. He has insisted that there is not a single euro earmarked, an argument that the executive of Pere Aragonès has been repeating in recent weeks.

The commons and the Vila-seca macrocasino project

The head of Economy has recalled that the commons have “ignored” that in 2022 they already voted on budgets that did have an item for the Vila-seca macrocasino project, of 120 million euros specifically for the Hard Rock, the stone in the shoe that keeps away an agreement between the executive and the commons for the accounts.

On the other hand, Mas Guix has warned that “many years will pass” until Catalonia can once again have a growth like that foreseen in this year’s budgets.

Impact of rejection on accounts

The minister has reiterated that rejecting the accounts today means saying ‘no’ to the demands of healthcare professionals, teachers and prison staff. He emphasized that the budgets “grow by more than 3,200 million” and include items to combat the drought, resources for education, housing, research and innovation.

Agreement between communes and the Government

By now the agreement between commons and the Government is almost impossible after Jéssica Albiach’s group has rejected the in-extremis offer that has been forwarded to it by the executive. Community sources make it clear that they are demanding from Pere Aragonès a public position that the Hard Rock will not take place.

The Government has informed them that they will “never say that the Hard Rock will not take place” because “they do not want to “take the risk” involved with the PSC and the investors. The same sources insist that the “key” to everything is for Aragonès to commit to stopping the processing of the Urban Master Plan (PDU) for the Hard Rock.
