PSOE initiatives for Children’s Justice

The Socialist Parliamentary Group has presented several amendments to the organic legislation that seeks to optimize the judicial system. These proposals focus on the need for judges and courts to specialize in matters related to violence against children.

Specialized Training: A necessary step

One of the highlighted amendments proposes that, within a period of four months from the approval of the new regulations, the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) should implement a ‘Specialized Training Course’ dedicated to family issues, of childhood and violence against the youngest.

Continuity in judicial training

In addition to initial training, the PSOE also seeks to ensure that substitute judges and substitute magistrates have access to continued training. This initiative aims to ensure that all professionals in the judicial system are well prepared to deal with sensitive cases involving minors.

Collaboration between institutions

The amendments also include a proposal for both the Executive and the autonomous communities with powers in judicial matters to organize training for their technical teams. This collaboration is essential to ensure that professionals are aligned with current best practices and regulations.

Compliance with the Child Protection Law

With these actions, the PSOE seeks to respond to the Organic Law for the Protection of Children from Violence (LOPIVI), which establishes the need for a judicial system specialized in cases affecting minors. This law requires a modification of the judicial system to ensure adequate care for victims.

Creation of Specialized Sections

Another of the Socialist Parliamentary Group’s proposals includes the creation of a Family, Childhood and Capacity Section within the Court of First Instance. This section could extend its jurisdiction to the entire judicial party, depending on the workload, in order to improve attention to cases involving minors.

Future perspectives in judicial training

The initiatives presented by the PSOE represent an important step towards a judicial system that is more sensitive and prepared to address violence against children. Continuous training and specialization are key to ensuring that children’s rights are effectively and fairly protected.
