Republicans reject the allegations

In response to the information that emerged this Saturday, Esquerra Republicana has issued a statement in which it categorically denies having made any payment to silence the action of the posters or to prepare false invoices. The party ensures that all jobs related to its political work are transparently paid to external suppliers. In addition, Republicans warn that these accusations could be an attempt at blackmail and express their confidence in being able to clarify all the facts.

They continue to investigate the nuisance posters episode

Esquerra Republicana has also stated that they are still investigating the episode of vexatious posters against the former president of the Generalitat Pasqual Maragall and his brother, Ernest Maragall, candidate for mayor of Barcelona for ERC. The party strongly condemns these posters and hopes to reach conclusions as soon as possible to clarify the case in an exemplary manner.

Allegations of payments for silence

The accusations of payments to silence the cartels’ action come from an investigation by the Central Hate and Discrimination Unit of the Mossos d’Esquadra. According to this investigation, Esquerra Republicana would have paid up to 50,000 euros to the marketing company Relevance, linked to the party, so that it would pay the young people who put up the posters. The youths, who had been identified by the Mossos d’Esquadra, would have received money to help put up the posters and would have been urged to remain silent. Esquerra Republicana denies these accusations and hopes to clarify all the facts.
