The result of the Catalan elections
In the Catalan elections of 12-M, the PSC candidate, Salvador Illa, won a great victory with 42 seats. The pro-independence forces, however, have come out of these elections damaged. Constitution of the Parliament

Presidential candidate proposal
Once the Parliament has been constituted, the president of the chamber will have a maximum of 10 days to propose a candidate for the presidency of the Generalitat. This proposal will be made after consulting the representatives of the parliamentary groups.
Investiture debate
In the first investiture debate, the candidate must have the support of an absolute majority, that is to say, a minimum of 68 deputies. If this support is not obtained, a second debate will be held where only a simple majority will be required, that is to say, more votes in favor than against.
Possible scenarios
In the event that the candidate is not invested in any of the votes, the Parliament may propose another candidate and the procedure will be repeated. If no candidate has been elected two months after the first vote, Parliament would be automatically dissolved and new elections would be called.
Date of the new elections
If new elections are called, they would take place in the autumn. The procedure would be similar to that of the previous elections, with the constitution of the Parliament within 20 days after the elections and the proposed presidential candidate.
