A December full of hope for retirees
The month of December is a time of great anticipation for many, but especially for those who have dedicated their lives to work. For many retirees, this month’s pensions become a crucial support to face the expenses involved in the Christmas holidays.
Bankinter makes the difference
In a move that has surprised many, Bankinter has decided to advance pension payments until December 23, allowing its retired customers to enjoy their income before the celebrations. This initiative stands out in a sector where large banks such as BBVA or CaixaBank usually dominate.
An anticipated joy
This decision is a great joy for those who need to manage their finances during a month full of extraordinary expenses. Retirees will be able to tackle Christmas shopping with more peace of mind thanks to this advance payment.
Other banks join the initiative
Bankinter is not the only bank that has decided to advance pensions. On December 24, several banks such as Banco Santander, Banco Sabadell and Unicaja will also make their payments. And on Christmas Day, ING will follow suit, ensuring that its customers have access to their funds for the celebrations.
The delay of some banks
However, not all banks will follow this model. Customers of BBVA, Laboral Kutxa and Abanca will have to wait until December 26, while those of EVO Banco will receive their pensions on the 27th, a wait that can be difficult at this time of year.
The reason behind advance payments
Traditionally, pensions are paid in arrears, but the strategy of bringing payments forward is a way for banks to help retirees manage their finances in a month where expenses increase. The advance payment of the December pension is thus a very welcome measure, as it allows pensioners to better plan their Christmas shopping.
A different Christmas
This December, many retirees will be able to enjoy a more relaxed Christmas thanks to early access to their pensions. With Bankinter leading the initiative, other banks are also joining this trend, reflecting a growing concern for the well-being of their customers during the holidays.
