The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility announces a new contract for the maintenance and operation of roads in Tarragona
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility plans to soon publish in the BOE the tender for the service contract intended for the conservation and operation of State roads in the demarcation of Tarragona. This contract, with a value of 12.2 million euros (VAT included), has an initial duration of three years, with the possibility of a two-year extension and an additional one of up to nine months.
Commitment to energy efficiency and the reduction of emissions
This contract includes requirements to promote energy efficiency and emissions reduction. It is part of the ministry’s program to maintain traffic conditions, viability and safety on the State Road Network (RCE), ensuring that it is accessible in suitable conditions for all citizens.
Contract details
This contract is intended for the maintenance and conservation of 118.65 kilometers of roads in Tarragona, including several sections of the A-7, N-340, N-340A and N-235 roads. In addition, the contract will also include the execution of the work to renew the vertical signage on the N-340 road, between kilometer points 1,058.44 and 1,121.80.
Commitment to reducing CO2 emissions
As part of the strategy to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency, this contract includes targets for mitigating and offsetting the carbon footprint. Companies opting for the contract must present a decarbonisation plan in the first six months of the contract, with emission reduction and compensation measures to achieve a carbon neutral balance after 5 years from the start of the contract.
Mixed contracts for better mobility and road condition
This contract is part of the model of mixed contracts, which combine services and works, for the execution of conservation and exploitation operations on the State Road Network. The aim of these contracts is to offer a comprehensive mobility service to users, improve the state of the road and the network, and optimize public resources.
