The general secretary of Junts per Catalunya celebrates the amnesty law

Jordi Turull, general secretary of Junts per Catalunya, has expressed his satisfaction in a press conference after the definitive approval of the amnesty law. According to Turull, this step represents a great victory for Catalan independence. In his words, the amnesty law buries the judicial fear that arose after the referendum of October 1 and reaffirms the commitment to the independence of Catalonia. Turull has also urged judges to apply the law fairly and impartially, leaving aside their political opinions.

Amnesty as an impetus for independence

Turull has emphasized that the amnesty is a boost for Catalan independence, as it reaffirms popular support for the October 1 referendum. He emphasized that his training has played a key role in the achievement of this law and he thanked the support of his deputies. According to Turull, the amnesty frees the families who have suffered the consequences of the judicial processes and allows progress towards the construction of a free and independent country.

The stability of the legislature and the return of Puigdemont

Turull has stated that the stability of the legislature will depend on each vote and each step taken. Regarding the return of President Carles Puigdemont, he pointed out that this decision depends on the call of the presidency of the Parliament. According to the calendar, the new Bureau of Parliament will be constituted on June 10 and the investiture session will have to be held within 10 working days after the constitution of the chamber. Turull has reiterated his party’s commitment to comply with the established agreements.
