CUP’s discomfort with the Government’s alliance

The CUP has expressed its concern about the Government’s alliance with the PSC, the only party, apart from Esquerra, that has reached an agreement with the executive on the budgets. The representative and negotiator of the cupaires with the Government, Xavier Pellicer, has expressed his disappointment during the debate on all accounts in Parliament. He noted that the anti-capitalists actively participated in the negotiations, prioritizing the needs of the country over their own preferences, but without achieving a satisfactory agreement.

Criticism of the agreement with the PSC

Pellicer has criticized the agreement between the executive and the Catalan socialists, emphasizing that this agreement reflects two antagonistic models. He stressed the importance of forging majorities in the streets and working to promote them in Parliament. In addition, he has made it clear that the CUP could not be part of an agreement with the presence of the PSC, since they consider that they represent opposing models.

Renunciation to confront the established powers

The CUP has regretted the Government’s refusal to confront the powers established by the macrocasino project in Vila-seca. They have criticized the Aragonese executive for prioritizing the sum of majorities and triangulating Catalonia, the State and Barcelona, to the detriment of the country’s interests. Likewise, they have expressed their disappointment at the treatment of the disadvantaged sectors of society.

Irony towards Salvador Illa

During the debate, Xavier Pellicer used irony to refer to Salvador Illa, leader of the PSC. He highlighted the change in position of the Catalan socialists and placed Illa further to the right than the PSOE. In addition, he has attributed responsibility for this change to Aragonès, accusing him of renouncing to endow Parliament with sovereignty after the pact with the Socialists.
