An initiative for political collaboration
The UDC’s current mandate has nearly forty mayors, of whom twenty will propose the creation of a council of mayors at the party’s next congress. This proposal has been promoted by the mayor of Vic, Josep Maria Vila d’Abadal, although he will not choose to preside over it if it is approved.
Objectives and structure of the board
The council of mayors is conceived as a space to debate joint policy and is scheduled to hold sessions every six months. This body would have a president and would be made up of an executive body and a member of the Democratic Union governing committee responsible for municipal policy.
Promotion of common policies
The council of mayors of Unió Democràtica also aims to ensure the achievement of common policies between the different municipalities headed by Christian Democratic leaders, while seeking collaboration and cohesion in the local political sphere.
