The Spanish government is backing down to avoid a new parliamentary spat

The Spanish government has decided to withdraw from the agenda of the plenary session of the Congress of Deputies this Thursday the entire debate on the Land Law, because it would have been the second time in a single week that the PSOE is left alone defending- there is a law

The PP leaves the PSOE in the open

The PP has finally decided to leave the PSOE out in the open with a rule that also bears the stamp of the PP.

Reactions of the other parties

Together, ERC and Podemos had presented amendments against the law in its entirety. Junts has criticized that the initiative presented by the Spanish government ‘does not contemplate the participation of local bodies’ and ‘omits that in Catalonia, the Statute guarantees municipalities a core of their own powers that must be exercised by these entities with full autonomy’. ERC has denounced the ‘lack of transparency’ with respect to the Government of the Generalitat and has regretted the lack of ‘satisfactory negotiation’ of the project with the executive chaired by Pere Aragonès. Podemos has censured that the law involved an ‘unjustified elimination of planning procedures and guarantees that only helps to promote planning speculation’.

The Minister of Housing regrets the decision of the PP

The Minister of Housing, Isabel Rodríguez, has regretted that the PP has left aside the position of the party of state and has taken the opportunity to make fun of the Spanish government. He has made ‘the rule available to the parliamentary groups so that they can take a good text as a reference’.
