The judge offers to testify by videoconference

The judge investigating the Tsunami case from the Supreme Court, Susana Polo, has informed Carles Puigdemont and Rubén Wagensberg, accused of terrorism, that they will be able to testify by videoconference between June 17 and 21. This option is offered to avoid the need to open an international search and capture process in case they do not want to declare in person.

Residence of the accused

Carles Puigdemont currently resides in Brussels, where he serves as an MEP, while Rubén Wagensberg is in Switzerland. Judge Polo has initiated a rogatory commission to find out her places of residence and to be able to organize the statement by videoconference.

Supreme Court Decision

The Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court has decided to follow the criteria of Judge Manuel García Castellón and has entrusted Judge Susana Polo with the opening of terrorism proceedings against Carles Puigdemont and Rubén Wagensberg. According to the judges, the massive protests of the Democratic Tsunami movement, especially those that affected the El Prat airport, could constitute a crime of terrorism. Furthermore, they consider that Puigdemont was one of the shadow leaders of the movement and his declaration is a priority for the cause.

Only diligence so far

The declaration of Puigdemont and Wagensberg as defendants is the only procedure that Judge Susana Polo has carried out since she took on the case. The Criminal Court already made it clear that taking their statements was practically the only thing left to do.
