Agreements reached with administrations
The taxi sector has decided to call off the strike that was scheduled for Tuesday, June 18, in Barcelona. According to a statement issued, after a series of meetings and associations, agreements have been reached with the administrations. Among the most notable agreements are those closed with the Ministry of Mobility and Urban Agenda, which will allow the autonomous communities to train drivers and study the possibility of introducing the figure of the transport operator in the Land Transport Regulation Law (LOTT). These agreements are considered essential by the taxi drivers for the Generalitat to request them and become a reality.
Agreements with the city council and the metropolitan taxi institute
In addition to the agreements with the administrations, agreements have also been closed with the Barcelona city council and the metropolitan taxi institute. These agreements are related to the new method of calculating fares and approval to allow the presence of more taxis in the city.
Meeting with the ministry
The taxi sector has a meeting planned with the general director of Insurance and Pension Funds at the Ministry of Economy, accompanied by the highest representative of the Government in Catalonia. Despite having reached an agreement not to carry out the strike, the taxi drivers denounce the lack of contact from the Ministry of Industry since the strike was announced. In addition, they announce that the next mobilizations will be in Badalona and San Just, with the aim of putting an end to price abuses and poor service.
Presence at the F1 car show
This week, Barcelona is hosting an F1 car exhibition in the city centre, coinciding with the Catalunya Grand Prix. Taxi drivers say they will provide the best service during this event, contributing to the city’s image. They are grateful for the union of taxi drivers in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area and promise to continue working to solve problems related to insurance and MOTs.
