Flick’s Priority

Flick’s Barça is focused on strengthening its forward line, with particular interest in one of the wings. With Lewandowski as a great offensive reference and Lamine Yamal offering a better version every game he plays, the left wing is what worries the new coach of the club the most. Since the end of the season, several names have been floated as candidates to occupy this position from the new school year.

Flick’s Priorities

Flick has two clear priorities: Nico Williams and Luis Díaz. The current Athletic Club player has been one of the most outstanding players in the league and is showing his best level at the Euros, reasserting himself as the main winger of the Spanish national team and the most unbalanced card in attack . Díaz, on the other hand, has conquered Liverpool’s left wing, participating in 13 goals in the Premier League and constantly creating danger. However, the club is still considering a third option. A player who wants to return to Barcelona after leaving Barça Atlètic in 2014: Dani Olmo.

Dani Olmo, the Prodigal Son

Dani Olmo is experiencing a peak moment in his career. The 26-year-old winger has expressed his desire to return to the club he left and considers it a viable option. This year, the man from Terrasse has played his fourth full season at RB Leipzig in Germany, a relatively new team, but which has already established itself as one of the most competitive in the Bundesliga. His great performance in recent campaigns has not gone unnoticed and has led him to be a regular name in the call-ups of the national team.

Homecoming

Olmo arrived at Barça’s youth team at just 9 years old and spent 7 seasons in the lower categories, becoming top scorer and captain of the cadets. This summer it will be 10 years since he left the club to join Dinamo Zagreb, the team in which he made his debut and grew up. Now he thinks it’s the ideal time to return home and contribute to the development of Flick’s project.

Flick’s decision

The German coach, however, is still not convinced. The possibility exists, but it is neither the first nor the second option. The evolution and performances of the three players with Spain and Colombia in their respective international tournaments this summer may or may not change Flick’s preferences. And we must not forget the financial situation of the club, which will also play an important role in this transfer market.
