Terrassa City Council is committed to modernizing the urban logistics system

Terrassa, one of the pioneering cities in adapting to the new challenges of mobility, has announced that in 2024 it will launch an innovative mobile application to facilitate the operation of loading and unloading zones on public roads.

In collaboration with the Transport and Logistics Guild, one of the main players in the sector in the city with more than 250 members, the City Council wants to speed up and make the urban distribution of goods more efficient.

A practical and functional app for transport professionals

This application offers an innovative solution to freight transport professionals in the DUM (Urban Distribution of Goods) areas of Terrassa. Thanks to its functionality, users will be able to easily access loading and unloading areas using their mobile phone, without the need to use traditional parking meters.

In addition, the app will allow you to keep a detailed record of the activities carried out, speeding up the management of professionals and improving their productivity.

An online bet with other successful experiences

According to Xavier Cardona, councilor for the Territory, the City Council has studied other examples of success from municipalities that have already implemented similar solutions. During the last months, intensive work has been done on the development of this application that will be added to the changes in the vertical signage of the loading and unloading areas promoted in the previous mandate.

The main objective of this initiative is to ensure that professionals in the sector can work in an agile and easy way, while improving coexistence between transport vehicles and other forms of mobility in the city.

The support of the Transport and Logistics Guild

Antonio Martínez, president of the Transport and Logistics Guild, has shown interest in the Terrassa City Council’s proposal. The group believes that this innovation can bring great value to the sector, since the digitization of loading and unloading areas has been a repeated demand in recent years.

The growing activity related to e-commerce has generated a significant increase in loading and unloading operations in urban areas. This new regulation and control system will make it possible to comply with current regulations, which limit parking in DUM spaces to a maximum of half an hour.
