The Volta Ciclista a Catalunya 2024 arrives this Wednesday at Pallars with a third stage that will culminate at the Port Ainé station. Top-level cycling has been taking place since Monday and will continue until Sunday, bringing excitement and spectacle to the Catalan roads. On Thursday, the competition will travel through Pallares territory in the fourth stage.
After the first stage held yesterday in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, with the victory of Nick Schultz, the third stage will focus on a mountainous route between Sant Joan de les Abadesses and Port Ainé. With 176.7 kilometers and ports such as Port de Toses and Port del Cantó, this stage promises to be a demanding challenge.
Detailed itinerary of the stages
The fourth stage will leave Thursday from Sort and end in Lleida, with a route of 169 kilometers passing through different towns such as Gerri de la Sal and Tremp before arriving in the capital of Segrià. Cyclists will have to overcome several sections to reach the finish line.
Road damage and special measures
The passage of the Volta a Catalunya cyclists will cause traffic disruptions and the implementation of special measures to guarantee the safety of the participants. The Catalan Traffic Service and the Mossos d’Esquadra will work together to manage the flow of vehicles during the stages of the competition.
During the third stage, roads such as the N-260 and the C-13 will see traffic restrictions to facilitate the passage of cyclists. Passing times are expected to be strict to maintain order and safety in the competition.
In the fourth stage, the roads affected will again be the N-260 and the C-13, with departure from Sort and arrival at Cellers. Citizens will have to take traffic restrictions into account and plan their routes in advance to avoid inconvenience.
