A New Chapter

Umar Sadiq has informed Real Sociedad of his intention to leave the club this summer, two years after his arrival. His signing, which involved an outlay of 20 million euros, was intended to replace the sale of Alexander Isak to Newcastle United. However, luck has not been on his side during his stay in the team led by Imanol Alguacil.

A few days after his presentation, Sadiq suffered a serious knee injury, tearing his anterior cruciate ligament. This injury kept him off the playing field for several months. Despite his efforts to recover, he has not managed to reach his best level. Furthermore, he has not had the desired opportunities, despite the departure of Alexander Sörloth to Villarreal last summer and the constant physical problems of André Silva and Carlos Fernández.

A new way

Patience with the African striker has run out at Anoeta and he has been included in the list of transferable players. Sadiq considers that the best thing for his career at this moment is to look for a club that guarantees him minutes and continuity, with the aim of regaining the self-confidence that he has lost. He has asked Jokin Aperribay, president of Real Sociedad, to facilitate his departure.

Several La Liga sides have shown interest in the player, including Sevilla, who are looking for a replacement for Youssef En-Nesyri, and Getafe and Alavés, who are in need of a striker following the departure of Samuel Omoroddion. However, Real Sociedad believe it will be difficult to recoup the investment made in Sadiq and do not rule out a loan move. Imanol Alguacil will not oppose this possibility and only wants to get away from the 27-year-old striker.

An uncertain future

Umar Sadiq’s time at Real Sociedad will soon be forgotten. The club has not made a final decision on selling him and hopes to receive offers in the coming weeks. Although it is not part of Imanol Alguacil’s plans, it is expected that a club from the Premier League or the Saudi Pro League will show interest in the player and make an offer that will financially benefit the Basque team.

Real Sociedad remain hopeful of making a multi-million-euro sale and improving their finances. Meanwhile, Sadiq is looking for a new destination that will give him the opportunity to relaunch his career and prove his worth on the pitch.
