Business results and inflation mark the Ibex 35 session

The Spanish national team falls slightly on the last day of February

The Ibex 35 started the day this Thursday with a retreat of 0.12%, standing at 10,056.4 points, on a day in which several business results were known in Spain, among which stand out those of Grifols, which sank more than 6% after presenting its 2023 accounts.

Grifols falls due to net profits much lower than the previous year

The hemoderivatives company reported to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) before the start of the market that it achieved a profit of 59.3 million euros in 2023, which represents a drop of 71.5 % with respect to the profits of 208.3 million registered in the previous year. Grifols explained that its net earnings included “non-recurring items worth 147 million euros related, mainly, to restructuring costs”.

Fluidra and Sacyr increase their net profits in 2023

Fluidra, for its part, closed the 2023 financial year with a net profit of 114 million euros, 28.8% less than in 2022, while Sacyr obtained a net profit of 153 million euros, figure 39% higher than the 111 million euros of earnings it recorded in 2022.

The Spanish CPI rises by 0.3% in February but drops its year-on-year rate to 2.8%

In the macroeconomic field in Spain, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.3% in February compared to the previous month but reduced its year-on-year rate by six tenths, to 2.8%, due to of the cheapening of electricity and the stability of food prices, according to the data advanced this Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), which points out that, in the opposite direction, in February the prices of fuels

The most bullish and bearish values ​​of the Ibex 35

In the first moments of this Thursday’s session, the most important gains within the Ibex 35 were led by Fluidra (+6.6%), Rovi (+1.55%), Acciona (+1.4%) and Colonial (+1.38%), while the ‘red lights’ were Grifols (-6.78%), Amadeus (-5.69%) and Meliá Hotels (-2.23%).

European stock markets open positively, with moderate gains

The main European Stock Exchanges started this Thursday in ‘green’, with increases of 0.15% for Milan; 0.14% for Frankfurt and London, and 0.12% for Paris.

Oil falls and the euro rises against the dollar

At the opening of the stock market, the price of a barrel of Brent quality oil, a reference for the Old Continent, fell by 0.46%, to 81.77 dollars, while that of Texas stood at 78.22 dollars, 0.41% less. In the foreign exchange market, the quotation of the euro against the dollar advanced to 1.0840 ‘green notes’, while in the debt market the interest required on the 10-year Spanish bond rose to 3.339%.
