Morad accepts a two-year sentence and avoids going to prison
In a very serious process opened against the 24-year-old singer Morad, an ‘in extremis’ agreement has been reached with the prosecution before the trial resulting from a confrontation with the Urban Guard of l’Hospitalet.
Morad, renowned urban music artist, has accepted a sentence of two years in prison for a mass incident with the police during the recording of a video clip in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat in August 2021. The prosecution accused him instigator of the events, which culminated in the throwing of stones at officers of the Urban Guard.
Agreement with the prosecution
Morad’s defense has reached an agreement with the Public Ministry to accept the minimum sentences for the crimes for which he was accused. The prosecution requested seven years in prison for the crimes of incitement to public disorder and aggravated assault with the use of a dangerous instrument. With the recognition of the facts, it has been agreed to suspend the penalty, as long as no more crimes are committed for two years and a fine of 900 euros is paid.
A very serious process
This process was the most serious one opened against the singer, who already has other court cases of this nature still pending. The penalties agreed for each offense are 6 months in prison for inciting public disorder and 1 year and 6 months for aggravated assault with the use of a dangerous instrument.
Repercussions and accusations
The events took place in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat during the filming of a video clip with the rapper Rim’K. The recording was carried out without the necessary permits and generated complaints from neighbors about the noise. When the Urban Guard showed up to stop the recording, a confrontation ensued with stones thrown and damage to police vehicles.
The prosecution accused Morad of instigating the riots, which caused material damage and injuries to the officers of the Urban Guard. However, at no time was he accused of having personally committed these acts.
