The lieutenant prosecutor of the Supreme Court presents a report
The deputy prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Àngels Sánchez Conde, presented this Thursday the report on the cause of Democratic Tsunami, in which she stated that there are not enough indications to investigate Carles Puigdemont for terrorism. This decision contradicts the one taken by the Supreme Court prosecutors, but agrees with the opinion of the prosecutor Miguel Ángel Carballo of the National Court, who also rules out the presence of terrorism in the protests of the sentence.
Petition to return the case to the National Court
In her report, the lieutenant prosecutor asks that the case be returned to the National Court to continue with the investigations. This 31-page report maintains that there are no indications to implicate Puigdemont in the organization of Tsunami and the protests against the sentence, calling into question the qualification of Democratic Tsunami as a terrorist organization.
Assessment of evidence and indications
Sánchez Conde argues that the evidence presented is not sufficient to conclude that Puigdemont was involved in Tsunami, and that the accusations are based on conjecture and suspicion. In addition, he also questions the steps agreed by the instructor that have not been practiced, calling into question the soundness of the evidence presented.
Positioning against the criteria of the Supreme Prosecutors
The decision of the lieutenant prosecutor contradicts the opinion of the majority of Supreme Court prosecutors, led by Fidel Cadena, who consider Puigdemont to be the absolute leader of the terrorist group Tsunami. Despite this, the final decision will fall to the criminal court and the judge Jan Ramon Berdugo, in charge of drafting the decision on whether or not this folder should be kept.
Relevance of the cause of Democratic Tsunami
The cause of Tsunami is particularly relevant, since it is one of those that runs the risk of being left out of the amnesty, precisely because of the crime of terrorism that García Castellón has built.
