The posture of Francina Armengol
The president of the Congress of Deputies, Francina Armengol, has denied having received pressure to contract with the ‘Koldo case’ plot and has directly pointed out the Popular Party (PP) as responsible for explaining the file in question.
During her appearance, Armengol defended the honorability of her government and stated that neither she nor her administration appear in the summary nor are they being investigated.
In relation to the awarding of the mask purchase contract to the company Soluciones de Gestión SL, Armengol did not provide new revelations and limited herself to stating that neither she nor her government were pressured to contract with that company or to avoid claiming the money.
The contract with the Koldo plot
The Balearic Health Service signed a contract with Soluciones de Gestión y Ayuda a Empresas SL in 2020 for the acquisition of masks. However, it was later discovered that some of the material delivered did not meet the contract specifications.
The claim for the extra cost of the masks began three years later, during Armengol’s presidency, and was formalized in July 2023. Currently, there is controversy over whether the file has expired and about responsibility for its management.
The summary of the case suggests that the Koldo plot sought to avoid the payment demanded by the Balearic Government, and the European Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into these operations.
