Increase in the number of victims
The authorities of the Gaza Strip, controlled by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), raised this Tuesday to more than 30,600 the dead due to Israel’s offensive against the enclave after the attacks carried out on October 7 by the group, which leaves more than 72,000 injured.
Critical situation
The Gaza Ministry of Health has specified that during the last 24 hours there have been “ten massacres” that have left 97 “martyrs” and 123 wounded. An undetermined number of victims ‘continue under the rubble or on the roads’ and the occupation prevents ambulances and Civil Defense teams from reaching them, which means the death toll could be higher.
Impact on the civilian population
The press office of the Gaza authorities has warned that among the dead are at least 13,430 children, including 15 who died of malnutrition, while putting the number of missing at 7,000, 70 percent of whom are women and children, since the beginning of the ‘genocidal war’. These events have caused a critical situation, with a devastating impact on the civilian population.
Context of the conflict
Israel launched the offensive against the enclave after Hamas attacks, which left 1,200 dead and 240 kidnapped. Added to these casualty records are more than 400 Palestinians killed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem at the hands of Israeli security forces and in attacks carried out by settlers.
