Pressure on the executive
The Government faces difficulties in approving the 2024 budgets. The commons have increased pressure on the executive by registering an amendment to the entire accounts, urging it to disassociate itself from the Hard Rock project. Jéssica Albiach, leader of the Commons, has emphasized the condition of stopping this project in Camp de Tarragona as essential, pointing out that President Pere Aragonès does not show willingness to promote necessary measures.
Announced transformations
The common people question whether Aragonès is willing to carry out the transformations promised during his investiture or if he will be trapped in an old macro project. Albiach has highlighted the need to stop the Hard Rock project, calling it an environmental mistake that will generate precariousness and mental health problems.
Pressure and negotiation
The Commons have highlighted the president’s unwillingness to lead, accusing him of being captive to past decisions. In addition, they have denounced the Government’s refusal to accept measures such as sixth hour in schools or increasing dining scholarships. Despite the disappointment, Albiach has assured that they will continue at the negotiating table, seeking agreements without pressure or blackmail.
Deadline to agree on budgets
The debate on the entire budget is scheduled for Wednesday, March 13. If Junts also presents amendments to the entirety, the budgets could be rejected. Faced with the possibility of withdrawing the amendment to prolong the negotiations, the commons rule out this option, indicating that they will vote accordingly if the executive does not rectify its position.
Assessment of the agreement with the PSC
Albiach has criticized the Government’s agreement with the PSC, considering it unambitious and without addressing the problems of Catalonia. He has also questioned the socialists’ stance, wondering how a progressive party can support the installation of Europe’s largest casino in Catalonia.
